Our lab is located at the CRCHUM Research Centre in downtown Montréal. We are part of the cardiometabolic and the neuroscience axes in the CRCHUM, as well as the Department of Neuroscience at the Université de Montréal.
The CRCHUM research centre can be found at - 900 St Denis St, Montréal, Quebec, H2X 0A9
Join our lab
The Murphy-Royal Lab studies how astrocytes integrate stress, metabolic state, and circuit activity to shape neural function and behaviour. Current projects span anxiety and threat processing, early-life stress, memory and behavioural adaptation, glucocorticoid signalling, and astrocyte metabolism.
We are a collaborative, multidisciplinary team at the CRCHUM. Trainees receive close scientific mentorship while developing independence, technical depth, and opportunities to work across behavioural neuroscience, electrophysiology, molecular and genetic approaches, and cellular and in vivo imaging.
We welcome inquiries from prospective graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, research staff, and interns whose interests align with the lab. Please email Ciaran with the materials below:
ciaran.murphy-royal@umontreal.ca
In your email please include -
1. A statement of research interests and how they relate to our lab
2. CV
3. Contact information for two references
While funding is not a requirement to join the lab, there are many internal & external opportunities for funding including;
Université de Montréal Scholarships
Canadian Institutes of Health Research
